Unexpected Gifts
The theme this week seemed to be about unexpected gifts and it's a lovely thing to receive gifts out of the blue when you're least expecting them.
Surprise number one was when Mr Cocopopia magically produced a big bar of Cadbury's chocolate out of his rucksack on our trip to London last week-end - to sustain us on our travels and as far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with a gift of chocolate!
At the beginning of the week, we received a family newsletter in the post which was a pleasant surprise and always a fun read.
I suppose here I could mention the unexpected "gifts" brought in by the cats this week but I definitely wouldn't want to subject you to photos of these. Although they did also manage to drag a branch of a tree through the cat flap and we're still baffled on how they managed it.
Another unexpected gift of some flowers - but I need to grow them first ...
Some free seeds brought into work by someone who had several packets of unwanted seeds which had been a magazine freebie. I chose the shade-loving woodland mix to plant at the front of the house because it is very much in the shade and a challenge for anything to grow there although bluebells and lily of the valley pop up every year, so there's hope. I'll be planting them this week-end so lets see what happens ...
Finally, the piece de resistance was a surprise present sent to me all the way from the USA - a retro style pinny for when I am in domestic goddess mode
and I just love the owl print fabric
Have you received any nice unexpected gifts this week?
I'll be joining in with Planet Penny's Happy Friday once again to see what everyone else has been up to this week
What lovely surprise gifts. In my book, you can't go wrong with chocolate and I just love the owl fabric and the snazzy apron. Happy seed sowing! x
ReplyDeletethank you - have a lovely week-end x
DeleteWhat a lucky girl you've been this week. Surprise gifts are the best sort, coming out of the blue, when they are least expected. It will be interesting what happens to the seeds you are going to sow :)
ReplyDeletethanks - hopefully by the spring, I'll be able to share pics of the English woodland leading to the front door (the picture in my head may be different to the reality) !
DeleteWow! You really got lucky with the gifts this week. I'm sure the chocolate was yummy and the apron is so cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Lilly's Mom - yes - chocolate was definitely yummy!! Thank you for following :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I love the owls! I have serious fabric envy!
ReplyDeletethey seem to have some particularly nice fabrics over in the USA!
DeleteIt was a gifted week for you! Love the apron and the fabric!
ReplyDeletethanks :)
DeleteOooh that pinny is just gorgeous! I think seeds are a lovely gift, when the flowers come up they always remind you of the person that gave them :) x
ReplyDeleteI agree - because its a gift of flowers that lasts x
DeleteWow! Lucky you...little surprises are always such a joy! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletethank you - and you too x
DeleteOh I bet that chocolate went down well. Your apron is wonderful, I hope you have lots of fun baking in the kitchen with it. This morning I got a free bag for life from Tesco because I used the self scan machines. Not very exciting but useful. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteAli xx
Well Ali, every little helps (sorry, couldn't resist!)
DeleteNow if you could just train your cats to bring chocolate through the cat flap then life would be really good! Cats are funny things; my friend's cat once had a phase of bring boiled potatoes home - she never found out where he was getting them from! We don't have a cat flap because our cats would only bring us squelchy presents :-) xx
ReplyDeleteboiled potatoes... now that's an interesting one - he must have been sneaking into someone's house!!
DeleteHello again. I've nominated your blog for the Liebster Award. Feel free to join in if you wish at http://lillymycat.blogspot.com/2015/02/liebster-award.html
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the nomination - I will take a look ....
DeleteWhat a lovely selection of gifts (well, apart from the ones the cats brought in of course, I remember those well!) I hope your seeds bring some summer colour to your shady patch, although I am rather envious of the bluebell/lily of the valley combination, I bet it smells heavenly. Thanks for joining in with Happy Friday x
ReplyDeletethanks Penny :)
